Spiradenocylindroma with Trichoepithelioma – A Collision Tumor with Multiple Differentiation

چکیده
Spiradenoma & cylindroma are relatively uncommon sweat gland tumors. These lesions along with trichoepithelioma can co-exist and this gives support to the theory that they are part of the same spectrum and have a similar derivation. They can occur as separate lesions or within a single tumor mass as collision tumors. Here we report a case of a 67 year old female who presented with multiple papulonodular lesions over the nose for 10 years, which was clinically suspected to be an adnexal tumor. Biopsy of two different lesions revealed a spiradenocylindroma & trichoepithelioma.

AN UNUSUAL ADNEXAL TUMOR WITH DIFFERENTIATION TOWARDS HAIR FOLLICLE, WITH CONCOMITANT PRESENCE OF TRICHOFOLLICULOMA, TRICHOEPITHELIOMA AND PILOMATRICOMA IN ONE LESION: A CASE REPORT
A case of an interesting previously unreported mixed adnexal tumor of the scalp of a 38 year old man is presented, which was composed of randomly dispersed areas of trichofolliculoma, trichoepithelioma, and pilomatricoma concomitantly. While these lesions are classified under adnexal tumors with differentiation towards hair follicle structures, controversy is present concerning the exact o...
متن کاملValue of CD10 Expression in Differentiating Cutaneous Basal from Squamous Cell Carcinomas and Basal Cell Carcinoma from Trichoepithelioma
Background: In addition to the well-defined histological criteria for squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) and basal cell carcinoma (BCC), immunohistochemical techniques can be used in difficult cases for their differentiation. As differential diagnosis between trichoepithelioma (TE) and BCC is sometimes difficult for the clinician and the pathologist, CD10 may be a useful marker for definite diagnosi...

Brooke-Spiegler syndrome (BSS) is an inherited autosomal dominant disease characterized by the development of multiple adnexal cutaneous neoplasms most commonly spiradenoma, cylindroma, spiradenocylindroma, and trichoepithelioma. Multiple familial trichoepithelioma (MFT) is a phenotypic variant of the disease characterized by the development of numerous trichoepitheliomas (cribriform trichoblas...

Fig 1. Desmoplastic trichoepithelioma and melanocytic nevus (collision tumor). Dermoscopy of the skin-colored papule on the right cheek (clinical detail) disclosed sharply focused, fine arborizing vessels (arrows), mostly at the periphery on a white-ivory background (black asterisk) in the upper half of the lesion and structureless light-brown (white asterisk) in the lower half. Few white clods...
متن کاملTrichoepithelioma: A Rare but Crucial Dermatologic Issue
BACKGROUND Trichoepithelioma is a rare benign skin lesion that originates from hair follicles. Trichoepitheliomas are mostly seen in the scalp, nose, forehead, and upper lip. METHODS We present a large family of Iranian origin with 15 individuals affected with multiple familial trichoepithelioma in four generations, and treated with three different methods. RESULTS Trichoepithelioma is his...
